Apply to a RLC

Application Process 

Both First-Year and Upper-Level students will be able to apply for their choice of Residential Learning Community via the housing application in the StarRez Housing Portal.

First-Year Students 

While filling out the housing application in the StarRez Housing Portal, applicants will have the option to choose if they are interested in applying for a Residential Learning Community. If yes, applicants will be directed to the next page that displays information on all available Residential Learning Communities offered for the 2026-2027 academic year. 

Students will then be directed to sign an agreement related to Residential Learning Communities and continue with the rest of the housing application process.

Upper-Level Students 

When filling out the housing application in the StarRez Housing Portal, Upper-Level students will be asked if they are interested in applying to be part of a Residential Learning Community. 

If interested in taking an RLC, students will select one community on the subsequent page, with the potential to answer questions about the community they have selected. Students will then be directed to sign an agreement relating to Residential Learning Communities and continue with the rest of the housing application.

Accepting Your RLC Offer (For Upper-Level Students Only)

On February 13th, students who applied for Upper-Level Residential Learning Communities will find out if they have been extended an invitation to join the RLC. The Upper-Level Residential Learning Community acceptance process can be competitive.

We recommend that students check their emails and accept their offers before the deadline.

By accepting an offer invitation, students will: 

  • Fully participate in floor programs and building events, as well as make a genuine effort to work with and learn from fellow community members and those residing in other RLCs 
  • Attend and engage in off-campus programs and excursions when offered 
  • Fulfill the obligations of the signed RLC Agreement 

To accept an RLC offer, students must complete the following steps by 11:59 pm, on Monday, February 16th

  1. Log in to the StarRez Housing Portal 
  2. Select your 2026-2027 Housing Application 
  3. Navigate to the “Residential Learning Community Offer” page 
  4. Choose either “Accept Offer” or “Decline Offer” from the drop-down menu 
  5. Click the blue “Respond to Residential Learning Community Offer” button
