How to Apply for Housing As A Transfer Student

 

1. Pay Your Admission and Enrollment Deposit

Get Discounts with Patriot Perks

Ensure you have received an official offer of admission fromMason and have paid the enrollment deposit. This is a prerequisite to accessing the housing application

2. Set up your Patriot Pass account. Instructions for this are included in your admissions packet. You'll need your Mason NetID and password to access the housing application portal

3. Access Your Housing Portal: Log in to the Housing Portal using your Mason NetID and password

4. Complete Your Housing Application: Fill out the housing application, providing all required information

5. Once You have completed the housing application, pay the non-refundable $150 application fee to secure your housing application.

Yes, transfer students can apply for on-campus housing, but availability is limited and not guaranteed.

How do I apply for on-campus housing?

Submit a housing application through the Mason Housing Portal and pay the required deposit.

When is the housing application deadline?

We encourage you to apply in April, because housing is not guaranteed.  

Is on-campus housing guaranteed for transfer students?

No, housing is assigned based on availability, with priority given to first-year students.

What types of housing are available for transfer students?

Transfer students may be placed in suite-style or apartment-style housing in upperclassman residence halls.

Can I request a roommate?

Yes, you can request a specific roommate through the housing application, but requests are not guaranteed.

Are meal plans required for transfer students living on campus?

Meal plans are required for students living in traditional residence halls but optional for those in apartment-style housing.

How do I check my housing assignment?

Housing assignments are posted on the Mason Housing Portal before the start of the semester.

Can I cancel my housing contract if I change my mind?

Yes, but cancellation policies and fees may apply. Review the terms on the Mason Housing website.
