Our campus community also provides a shuttle service to the Vienna/Fairfax Metro Station, providing access to workplaces in Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland.
Living Accommodations
Interns will stay in the apartment-style residence hall, which houses up to four interns per apartment. Intern housing for Summer 2025 will house interns in single or double-occupancy rooms while sharing a bathroom, kitchen, and living room with other interns. Housing cannot guarantee that interns will receive their preferred housing style (single or double occupancy).

Affordable Pricing
Intern housing is typically available from the last week in May to the first week in August. The summer intern housing dates for 2025 are May 25 – August 3. A four-week minimum stay is required. These dates and times are non-negotiable.
Mason students please note that billing is done through Students Accounts or Patriot Web for intern housing. Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to learn how student loans and other aid can be used for summer expenses.

FAQs for 2025 Summer Intern Housing
How can I apply for Intern Housing?
Mason and Non-Mason students can apply to Summer intern housing at: https://gmu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezPortalSummer.. Room assignment choices are on a first-come basis. If you would like to room with or be in the same apartment with someone you know, you will both need to apply for housing at the same time. We do not assign summer housing spaces.
What building will intern housing be located?
Intern housing will be in Liberty Square. Overflow intern housing will be in Potomac Heights or another similar style residence hall.
How do I know if I am eligible for intern housing?
Summer intern housing is available for those who will be interning in or around the George Mason University campus and the DMV area. All Summer interns must be a student at some university (have a school email address) and proof of internship is required when applying for summer intern housing. Summer intern housing is also available for George Mason University students who will be taking at least one class during the summer. We do require a minimum stay of 4 weeks and maximum of 9 weeks for summer intern housing.
What type of rooms are available for intern housing?
Interns will reside in an apartment with 2-4 apartment-mates depending on the unit layout and size. All apartments will have the following areas: kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. Apartments will have a single-occupancy or double-occupancy bedroom room. All utilities, Wi-Fi, and on-site laundry are included.

Is Gender Inclusive options available?
George Mason University will have the option for Summer interns to select Gender Inclusive housing. Mason Housing & Residence Life is proud to offer a living environment that recognizes the identities of interns outside the gender binary. When applying for housing, interns will select Male or Female in the application and complete the process of signing the agreement but indicate they wish to live in gender inclusive housing by emailing stay@gmu.edu. Gender inclusive housing means that interns from all gender identities and expressions may choose to live together in a shared apartment and/or bedroom. Interns who indicate wanting to live in gender inclusive housing will only live with other interns who have selected gender inclusive housing, regardless of biological sex or gender. Interns who have selected Male or Female in their application, and do not email indicating wanting GI Housing, will only be housed with the other interns of the gender they selected. Everyone who wants to live in gender inclusive housing will be required to email stay@gmu.edu to make sure they understand their selection and to confirm their decision to live in gender inclusive housing. We will ensure that someone will reach out to you via email to discuss your Gender Inclusive housing preferences and to confirm your room assignment.

What is the building and staff hours?
Our Summer Housing Desk will have phone and office coverage throughout your stay. Summer staff members (Summer Conference Assistance/ Summer Office Assistance) will assist you with check-in, check-outs, and any issues that may arise during your stay. Professional staff members (Assistant Directors, Managers, Community Directors, and Office Assistants) will supervise the student staff. Your main point of contact while staying on campus will be the student staff members. They will be able to assist with any maintenance or facility requests that need to be reported, assist with guest issues such as lockouts, and any university protocols and procedures. Please report any facilities or maintenance issues to the student staff within 24 hours.
Do you offer laundry facilities?
Yes! Laundry rooms are available in each residence hall with washers and dryers and are free to use during your stay. Interns must bring their own laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc...
Is parking available on campus?
Yes! Parking will be available for purchase. An email will be sent out with more information about parking once we get closer to the summer housing dates. On-campus Mason Shuttles and Fairfax CUE Bus to/from the Vienna Metro Station & local shopping centers will be available. https://transportation.gmu.edu/.
Are there dining and food options on campus?

Will a gym be available to use on campus?
Yes! Our recreation department will be open for use for our summer interns and passes will be available for purchase. More information will be sent to interns once we get closer to the summer housing dates.
Can I receive packages during my summer stay?
If you indicated on your application that you want to receive packages/mail during your stay you will receive a package locker number and temporary address. This will be sent to the email address we have on file.
Will information be sent to me before I arrive on campus?
A welcome packet will be sent directly to summer interns the week before the first check in date. This will outline all of the important information you will need for your stay.

Mason Student Rates:
Single occupancy: $62/day; $434/week
Double occupancy: $49/day; $343/week
Non- Mason Student Rates:
Single Occupancy: $64/day; $448/week

How do payments work?
Mason Student Billing: Mason students will be billed directly through their student accounts. Summer intern housing will need to be paid in full prior to your arrival.
Non- Mason Student Billing: The first 50% of your summer housing total cost will be due prior to your arrival. If the payment is not made your reservation will be cancelled. If you have trouble with making payments please reach out to stay@gmu.edu
How do I cancel my summer intern housing application?
If you need to cancel your summer intern housing application you will need to email stay@gmu.edu.
