Move-out: Spring 2025

All You Need to Know About Move-out

Residence Halls close on May 14th, 2025

When checking out of the residence halls, residents must complete the following. Failure to complete any of the following steps may result in an additional charge. A sample list of charges may be found in Damage Charges Spreadsheet. Housing and Residence Life updates the list of damage charges each May and as such, there may be some variation to the amounts listed in the sheet depending upon the severity of damage caused by residents. From May 6 to May 14, Housing & Residence Life student staff will be available to assist residents with checkout.

Are you graduating in Spring 2025?

Residents who have applied for graduation for either Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 will be eligible to remain in the residence halls until after their degree celebration. Be sure to check the Graduating Resident Move Out Schedule to know when you will need to check out of the residence halls.

Students who are assisting with graduating (Eagle Bank Arena student staff, Green Machine, etc.) will need to have their supervisors reach out to housing@gmu.edu to request an extension.

Steps for a Successful Check-out

All students who have not been approved for an extended stay will need to complete the move-out process within 24 hours of their last final or by May 14th at 5:00 pm. Residents who have an afternoon exam on May 13th will still need to complete the move-out process by 5:00 pm on May 14th. For Spring 2025, we are only able to offer an extended stay to graduating seniors, those assisting with commencement exercises, and residents with a summer housing assignment beginning in May. Residents who have a makeup exam after Noon on May 14th will need to send a copy of their syllabus or e-mail communication to housing@gmu.edu by May 6 to be granted an extended stay until 9:00 am on May 15. To complete the move-out process, please see steps here.

Students can volunteer to assist with collecting, organizing, and transporting donations. This is a great way to support the Mason community and contribute to sustainability efforts.
