Summer Orientation Housing

George Mason University's Housing and Residence Life offers convenient on-campus accommodations for students attending New Student or Transfer Orientation during the summer. Eligible students are housed in first-year residence halls on the Fairfax campus, within walking distance of orientation events.

Students are not required to stay on campus overnight during orientation sessions. Housing and Residence Life provides overnight housing to students who need to travel to attend orientation and cannot get a hotel room. 

 

Eligibility and Booking:

  • Students must be enrolled in a Summer 2025 orientation session to qualify for on-campus housing.
  • Accommodation is available for up to two nights and three days, allowing check-in the day before and check-out the day after the orientation session. Students may also opt for a one-night stay.

Cost and Amenities:

  • The overnight housing fee is $50 per night, charged directly to the student.
  • This fee includes a linen packet containing:
  • 1 pillow and pillowcase
  • 1 sheet set and blanket
  • 1 towel and washcloth

Check-In Details:

  • Check-in is at Eisenhower Hall, located at 10445 Presidents Park Dr., Fairfax, VA 22030.
  • Students can check in starting at 3:00 p.m.
  • Check-out is required by 11:00 a.m.

Additional Information:

  • Overnight on-campus housing during orientation is exclusively for Mason students registered for a summer orientation session; family members or friends cannot be accommodated.
  • Rooms are in traditional-style residence halls with community-style bathrooms, separated by gender.
  • While linens are provided, students should bring personal toiletries, shower shoes, and a robe.
  • Parking is provided during the orientation session. For overnight stays, a visitor's parking pass is required, with the Shenandoah Parking Deck being the nearest option.

Can family members or friends stay with me?

No, overnight housing is only available to Mason students registered for a summer orientation session.

Where will I go to check in for Summer Orientation Housing?

Check-in takes place at Eisenhower Hall (10445 Presidents Park Dr., Fairfax, VA 22030).

  • Check-in starts at 3:00 p.m.
  • Check-out is by 11:00 a.m.

Do I need to bring my own linens and pillow?

No. The $50 fee will include linens, a blanket, a pillow, and a towel. However, students may wish to bring their toiletries, shower shoes, and a robe. 

Are the bathrooms private or shared?

Rooms are in Presidents Park, a traditional-style residence hall. Bathrooms are community-style but separated by gender.

Is parking available?

  • Parking is provided for your orientation session.
  • If staying overnight, you'll need to purchase a visitor’s parking pass.
  • The Shenandoah Parking Deck (#43) is the closest visitor lot.

When can I check in?

  • If arriving the day before orientation, check-in is between noon and 10:00 p.m.
  • If arriving on orientation day, check-in starts as early as 6:00 a.m. (Plan to check in before 8:00 a.m. to be on time for the Green & Gold session).
  • If signing up less than a week in advance, call 703-993-2720 or email stay@gmu.edu to confirm your reservation.
  • Reservations made within 72 hours of check-in are not guaranteed.

How far in advance should I sign up for overnight housing?

Sign up at least one week in advance to secure a spot. Same-day sign-ups are not guaranteed. If space is available, you can check at the Eisenhower Desk before applying. No reservations are accepted after noon on your orientation day.
