Summer Orientation Housing
Housing and Residence Life will have rooms available for students who are attending New Student or Transfer Orientation during the summer. Students will be placed in a first-year residence hall on the Fairfax campus that is within walking distance of orientation events. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an orientation session during Summer 2024. The overnight housing fee is $50/night and will be charged directly to the student. Students are eligible to stay for up to two nights/three days (checking in the day before their orientation session and checking out the day after their orientation session). Students can opt to only stay one night.
The $50/night fee will include a linen packet that contains:
- 1 pillow
- 1 pillowcase
- 1 sheet set, blanket
- 1 towel
- 1 washcloth
Students are not required to stay on campus overnight during orientation sessions. Housing and Residence Life provides overnight housing to students who need to travel to attend orientation and cannot get a hotel room.
Can family members or friends stay with me?
Unfortunately, no. Overnight housing during summer orientation is only available to Mason students who are registered for a summer orientation session.
Where will I go to check in for Summer Orientation Housing?
You will check in at Eisenhower Hall. Students can check-in beginning at 3:00 pm and will need to check out by 11:00 am.

Do I need to bring my own linens and pillow?
No. The $50 fee will include linens, a blanket, a pillow, and a towel. However, students may wish to bring their toiletries, shower shoes, and a robe.
Is the bathroom in my room (suite style) or is it shared?
Students who participate in overnight housing during orientation will be placed in Presidents Park, which is a traditional-style residence hall. The bathroom is community-style, however, there are separate bathrooms for men and women.
Is parking available?
During the day of your orientation session, parking is provided. If you are planning to stay in overnight housing, you will need to pay for a visitor's parking pass. When can I check in?
- Students who have pre-registered for orientation housing will check-in at the Eisenhower Desk between noon and 10:00 p.m. if arriving the day before their orientation session.
- If arriving on the day of their orientation session, students who have pre-registered for overnight housing can check in at the Eisenhower Desk beginning as early as 6:00 am. If you are arriving on the day of your orientation session, we recommend planning to check in before 8:00 am to be on time for the Green & Gold session.
- Students who sign up less than one week in advance should call 703-993-2720 or e-mail stay@gmu.edu to ensure reservation has been received. Students who submit their reservation less than 72 hours before their planned check-in date may not be guaranteed housing.
How far in advance should I sign up for overnight housing?
It is recommended that students sign up at least one week in advance of attending their orientation to ensure sufficient space is available. Should students sign up the day of orientation, overnight housing is not guaranteed. Students should visit the Eisenhower Desk to see if space is available before completing the application. Reservations are not accepted after Noon during the student's orientation session.
